PART FORTY NINE
Sura 28 - "The story"
David E. Flang
Beginning at verse 43, Mohammad writes that Allah and he gave "the
book of the Law" to Moses to enlighten man, but it was rejected by
later generations who wanted to see the miracles performed by
Moses. The people said, what Moses had received from Allah are"Two
works of sorcery"( J.M. Rodwell writes, they are the
"Pentateuch and the Koran"), "We disbelieve them both". Allah told
Mohammad, "Say: Bring then a Book [The Koran] from before God
[Allah] which shall be a better guide than these [the Pentateuch
and the Koran], that I may follow it; if ye speak the truth."
Allah and Mohammad gave the word to the people to warn them. "They
to whom the Scriptures [The Koran] before IT, do in IT believe."
( J. M. Rodwell writes, "The Meccan Jews and Christians who
had formerly embraced Islam, could now affirm that they had always
held the same faith.") "And when it is recited to them {Jews and
Christians] they say, We believe in it , for it is the truth from
our Lord [Allah]." "We were Muslims before it [The Koran ] came."
On judgement day Allah will ask (verses 62 and 74), "Where are my
companions [other gods] as ye supposed them?". And when the lost
calls on those gods, they will not answer them because "There is no
god [Jesus Christ] but He [Allah]". Mohammad writes to believers to
seek the "future Mansion" by doing good and rejecting evil [works, not
faith].
Mohammad concludes in verse 88, "And call not on any other god [The
Lord Jesus Christ] with God [Allah]. There is no god but He!"
