Sura 37 continues to share one of Muhammad’s main missions which was to warn unbelievers of their impending doom in hell for eternity for not believing in Allah as revealed by Muhammad. There were those in the time of Muhammad who did not share his vision of Allah and the afterlife and mocked what he shared. Sura 37: 12-18 shares an instance of this “But while thou [believers in Allah] marvellest they [unbelievers] mock; When they are warned, no warning do they take; and when they see a sign, they fall to mocking, and say, ‘This is no other than clear sorcery: What! When dead, and turned to dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised? Our sires of olden times?’ ” Muhammad says, “Yes; and ye shall be covered with disgrace.” Muhammad states in verse 22-23 that these mockers and unbelievers would be gathered and guided to the road to Hell at the day of judgment. “Gather together those who have acted unjustly, and their consorts, and the gods whom they adored beside Allah; and guide them to the road for Hell.”
Some of these unbelievers felt that Muhammad was a crazed poet. In verses 34-36, when warned by Muhammad that there is no God but Allah, he was answered by unbelievers with “Shall we then abandon our gods for a crazed poet [Muhammad]?” Muhammad answered that he came with truth and confirmed the Sent Ones of old. These Sent Ones of old as mentioned in this Sura are some of the Hebrews of the Old Testament including Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Aaron, Jonah, Lot and Elijah. Muhammad goes on to share how each of these folks were saved from great distresses by what was provided to them by Allah.
Muhammad continues to promote the belief that God did not have a son in some of the final verses of this Sura. Verses 151-153 “Is it not a falsehood of their [Christians] own devising, when they say, ‘God hath begotten’? They are indeed liars.”
You be the judge of it all!
