Sura 41 “THE MADE PLAIN”
By
John W. Bailey

This Sura continues the message of Muhammad that what he shares in the Koran is “A Revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful [Allah]” Sura 41:1.

Again, many did not accept Muhammad’s warnings of everlasting torment in Hell should they not believe in the Allah he preached. In Sura 41:4, this is what the unbelievers said to Muhammad- “Our hearts are under shelter from thy teachings, and in our hearts is a deafness, and between us and thee is a veil. Act as thou [Muhammad] thinkest right: we verily shall act as we think right.” Muhammad answered in verse 5 “I am only a man like you. It is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah: go straight to Him and implore His pardon. And woe to those who join gods with Allah; who pay not alms of obligation, and in the life to come believe not! But they who believe and do the things that are right shall receive a perfect recompense [reward].”

This may be an area of confusion to the Muslim or anyone who reads the Koran, as Muhammad does not clarify what these “things that are right” are. Could it be construed by the believing Muslim that killing infidels [unbelievers] is right, hence deserving of a “perfect recompense”? You decide based on Muhammad’s words in verse 26-28: “Surely therefore will we [Muslims] cause the unbelievers to taste a terrible punishment; and recompense [reward] them according to the worst of their actions. This the reward of the enemies of Allah,-the Fire! It shall be their eternal abode, in requital for their gainsaying [denying] our signs.” From my reading of the Koran, this is but one area of Muhammad’s revelation from Allah that could cause the believing to seek out and destroy others who are not believing Muslims.

Verse 33-“And who speaketh fairer than he who biddeth to Allah and doth the thing that is right, and saith, ‘I for my part am of the Muslims’?” One could interpret Muhammad’s words in this verse as inferring that being a Muslim and doing what Muhammad says is the only way to be right with Allah.
